Just wanted to tell you that, you are a great dad. My dad never thought me anything and I had to do everything you are doing for your daughter all on my own to improve myself. I am now studying Electrical Engineering in a not the best but a decent university and hopefully one day I will be the dad I didn't have for my kids if I will ever have the chance.

People don't realize the controversial past that light bulbs have. They made them shitty on purpose to make more money when people bought them over and over again. WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND PROTEST AGAINST "BIG LIGHTBULB" UNTIL WE GET BETTER QUALITY LIGHTS

Re: warranty: they usually require the UPC and receipt from the store you bought it from. Most people don't keep track of those and usually toss them. They're banking on that. It's an empty selling point. Listing the expected lifespan in hours is another technique to confuse the consumer, most people aren't going to do the math to estimate how many hours a bulb was on for. 10,000 hours also sounds better in an ad than 1.1 years. Re: write reviews: this one they can take a page from the mattress and appliance industries. Change the model number every year and maybe some adjustments to the hosing design or something to justify it. New model number, new listing, no one star reviews.

Planned obsolescence is stupid, but the reason it exists is so companies don't go out of business. Dupont made Kevlar Jeans and they never broke, they lost money.

The reality is they don't want these bulbs to last long. They don't want their business to be dead so they thought - ok let's kill that bulb sooner so that we can sell new ones.

Good luck claiming light warranties. I've done it with Cree bulbs--they require ORIGINAL PACKAGING (which I know save), plus return shipping. If they weren't expensive Crees, warranty may cost more than the bulbs! Also, Big Clive has done some relevant experimentation with under-driving LED bulbs for longetivity (idea borrowed from some long-life Phillips bulbs made exclusively for the UAE.)

Hi I've got a Question: I've build myselve a Capacitor out of Aluminium foil and 3layers of 5m long Book foil. It has a capacity of around 150nF (might get higher when loaded with high voltage due to attraction force) now I will test how much voltage the foil can handle first and then load the capacitor with a voltage lower than that. I expect it to be able to handle something around 15-30KV. I've got a power supply which can output 30KV, and this is kind of save, cause the Energy and current is limited. But now i want to ask you, if the capacitor with around 150nF would be save if loaded to 30KV. So in case i touched it will it just badly hurt or might it harm myselve badly. I've read that ESD over 350mJ is harmfull and this thing would have around 68J if loaded to 30KV. So this would imply that it is very harmful. But if i calculate with 1000Ω of my body and this capacity and voltage with the formula t=R*C*ln(Umax/Utol) with Umax=30KV and Utol=30V (tolerable) I get to a time of 1ms till the voltage is at 30V when i touched it. But i've also seen in a graph, that at a current below 10A through the body it wont kill you as long as it is shorter than 10ms. So now my question is, if it really makes a that big difference if its below 10A or below 30A. (in the case of 30KV and 1KΩ) Or did i calculate something wrong?

It is infuriating! When LED lights for home application came around I was delighted, only to discover that the concept of planned obsolescence was still in effect. Which makes the whole situation even more infuriating, given the fact that cartell-planned obsolescence in traditional light bulbs was one of the first large-scale industrial scams to be found out...
